Maureen O'Hara Biography

 Maureen O'Hara, an American actress and singer from Irish heritage was a well-known persona. The passionate, fiery roles she played in a range of American films were well-loved by the green-eyed beauty , with flashing hair and fiery eyes. Her beauty and grace were much appreciated. Also, she was known as the Queen Of Technicolor' in Hollywood. Her roles on screen reflect her brave, strong spirit who fought to survive and gain recognition in a world dominated by males. She was known as the "tough Irish girl" and was not willing to sacrifice her image or respect in order to obtain the roles she earned by merit. She was a strong supporter of women's roles in television and film, and gained many followers because of it. The autobiography of her, "Tis Herself", was published in 2004. The book was an honest and open story of her life and the difficulties she encountered as she climbed the ladder to success. She was an adventurous woman who was never afraid to perform her own stunts. Over the years she was in over 60 films and gained the attention of many across the world. In 1968, she remarried with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former pilot brigadier and chief who pioneered transatlantic aviation. O'Hara retired after couple of years of marriage. Blair was tragically killed in a plane crash in 1978, ending O'Hara’s happiness. The same year, she was diagnosed with suffering from uterine cancer and required to undergo immediate surgery. She was recovered. Over the next few years, her health was declining and she experienced six heart attacks, short-term memory loss as well as diabetes mellitus type 2. On October 24, 2015 O'Hara died peacefully in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at 95.
