Paula Patton

Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles, California, to Joyce (Vanraden) and Charles Patton. Her father is African American and her mother, who is caucasian is of German, English, and Dutch her ancestry. When she was growing up and her family lived in front of the 20th Century Fox lot. She was a huge movie buff from the time she was a child. Her mother, also loved good films also taught at a school and her father was a lawyer. Paula claimed that she tried to get away as an infant by "pretending" to appear to be someone different from herself. It's no surprise that she took part in Hamilton Magnet Arts High School performances. Her most loved role was "Abigail" from "The Crucible". She continued her studies at the University of Southern California, where she completed a course in film. The program was a success, and she was awarded a 3-month assignment to make documentaries for PBS. Then, she was hired as a production assistant on documentaries on TV and Howie Mandel's talk-show. In the following time she was able produce documentary segments on Medical Diaries 2000 on Discovery Health Channel. Paula admits now that she loved what she was doing but her ambitions remained the same as when she was younger, so she began taking acting classes and switched gears to become an actor. She was almost instantly successful, playing major roles in Hitch (2005), Idlewild (2006) and Idlewild (2006), as well as the leading female role in Deja Vu (2006) opposite Denzel.
