Watts, born 28 September 1968, is a British actress from the UK. When her
family moved to Australia Watts made her film debut there with For Love Alone
(1986). Later, she was a part of three television series, Hey Dad.. (1990),
Brides of Christ(91) as well as Home and Away (91) and Flirting (1991). Watts
was a failed actress when she first arrived in the United States. She acted in
small-scale movies and eventually was a professional actress. Her rise to fame
internationally was triggered by this role. Watts was then played as a tortured
journalist in The Ring (2002). Her performance as a mother with grief in
Alejandro's 21 Grams (2003) was nominated for an Academy Award. Watts's profile
continued to rise with starring roles in I Heart Huckabees (2004), King Kong
(2005), Eastern Promises (2007) and The International (2009). Watts received
nominations for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The
Impossible (2012) as Maria Bennett. In the 2010s, she starred in such films
such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014), While We're Young (2015), The Glass
Castle (2017) as well as Luce (2019). Watts kept her acting career going
through blockbuster appearances, including in Divergent (2015-2016).
